and 100 DX units) the
'EC' line has a specially
designed optic which is
designed to be in contact with
the skin. This allows for far
greater absorption and
penetration of the laser
energy to the desired tissues.
With surface laser
epilation a significant
percentage of the laser energy simply bounces
off the skin or is absorbed by
the hair itself. This creates
an impressive effect because
the l aser
'shaves' the skin as it treats
the follicles below, however,

delivered this way, only about
120jcm2 will pass through the
skin. This is why the SDL-EC
line was developed.
It is intended
to be performed in conjunction
with a topical gel paste
(which also contains lidocaine

If you are using cosmetics on the area to be treated containing retinoids (retin a, tretinoin, altinac, avita, trans retinoic acid, vitamin A acid, tazorac, adapalene, differin), or AHA
(alpha hydroxyl acids, glycolic acid) stop using the cosmetic at least two days before the laser treatment. If you have been taking Accutane (isotretinoin) you should be off of it for two to six months before laser treatment. If you have had a microdermabrasion on the area to be treated it is best to wait seven to ten days before laser treatment.
